Scooter Rental in Chaloklum, Koh Phangan 2026

Chaloklum is Koh Phangan's main fishing village, tucked into a wide horseshoe bay on the north coast. For decades this was a working port where squid boats returned every morning with the day's catch, and much of that character is still intact — you'll see fishermen mending nets on the beach, squid drying on bamboo racks, and a handful of local seafood restaurants that do genuinely excellent whole-fish dinners for a fraction of what the tourist beaches charge.

Chaloklum has quietly become one of the nicer places to base yourself on Koh Phangan. It's less touristy than Haad Rin, less wellness-intense than Sri Thanu, more accessible than Thong Nai Pan, and the bay itself is calm and swimmable. The real draw, though, is that Chaloklum is the gateway to Bottle Beach — one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand, reachable only by longtail boat from Chaloklum (around 150-200 THB per person) or a steep 45-minute jungle hike.

Scooter-wise, Chaloklum is connected to Thong Sala by a reasonable road (25-30 minutes) and to Sri Thanu along the west coast (15 minutes). The road to Chaloklum is easier than the Thong Nai Pan mountain road but has a few hills. Inside the village, everything is flat and walking-distance. Having a scooter lets you explore the north coast — Mae Haad beach and the sandbar to Koh Ma (a snorkelling island reachable at low tide), Haad Khom, and quieter spots the west coast doesn't have.
