Scooter Rental in Haad Yuan, Koh Phangan 2026

Haad Yuan is a small, secluded bay on Koh Phangan's east coast just north of Haad Rin, most famous as the home of **The Sanctuary** — one of Southeast Asia's longest-running wellness and detox retreats. Alongside The Sanctuary, a handful of small beach bungalows, a few quiet bars, and nothing else. The bay is beautiful, the water is good for swimming, and the atmosphere is completely different from Haad Rin next door.

Here's the catch: **Haad Yuan has no direct road access from Thong Sala or anywhere else.** The standard way to arrive is by longtail boat from Haad Rin pier (around 150 THB per person, 10 minutes). There's a rough back track from the Haad Rin side suitable for experienced riders on a dirt-capable scooter in dry conditions only, but most travellers and most rental shops strongly advise against it. It's steep, rocky, wet in sections, and has wrecked many rental scooters.

If you're staying at The Sanctuary or one of the Haad Yuan bungalows, the honest answer is that you probably don't need a scooter on the Haad Yuan side. The Sanctuary and most retreats don't require transport — everything is on the beach. For trips to Thong Sala for the ferry or supplies, take the longtail back to Haad Rin and either rent there or use the local taxis.

If you're a confident rider and want to keep a scooter on the Haad Yuan side for exploring Koh Phangan, the path via Haad Rin is the most practical approach: rent in Thong Sala, ride to Haad Rin, then either shuttle the bike by longtail (possible but awkward) or leave it parked at Haad Rin and boat over.
